At the helm of the kitchen is head chef Frank Shek, who began his culinary career at the age of six working in his family's Chinese restaurant in Scotland. Frank quickly developed a taste for an exciting and fast-paced kitchen, learning self-discipline, a strong work ethic and intricate techniques handed down through the generations of his Cantonese family.

Frank has worked at China Doll since it's inception and is inspired by his dynamic team comprising of chefs from all across Asia, including Korea, Indonesia, Nepal, China, Bangladesh, Macau, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam. He feels incredibly fortunate to have such a diverse and hardworking team surrounding him and is driven by ensuring all guests have an outstanding dining experience.

Frank has made a number of appearances on television, such as The Morning Show (Channel 7), MasterChef (Channel 10) and a new series for SBS.


Residing by the docks of the 100 year old Finger Wharf in Woolloomooloo China Doll creates a glamorous setting for groups to enjoy seamless service, delicious beverages and cuisine by celebrated Sydney chef, Frank Shek.

The banquet options are available in the menu section of this website and are compulsory for groups of ten or more. The menus are designed to share and are priced at $72, $88 or $105 per person. All dietary requirements can be accommodated for with advance notice. Unfortunately, we do not offer BYO or beverage packages.

A 10% service charge applies on the total bill on all groups.

Large Groups

Groups of 10 or more guests are accommodated in the main dining room. Guests can request an inside or outside table at time of booking. Table requests are not guaranteed and are allocated by date order and party size. We have rectangle table settings with a maximum of 16 guests on one long table.

Private Dining | The Vase Room

The Vase Room is located on the ground wharf level of the restaurant. It is an indoor space that looks out to the Sydney city skyline. The room accommodates up to 40 guests seated. There is a minimum spend of $4500 for exclusive use of this space and a 10% service charge applies in addition to the spend.

Private Dining | The Mezzanine

The Mezzanine is an L shaped dining space on the second floor of the restaurant. There are floor to ceiling windows overlooking Woolloomooloo wharf. The room accommodates up to 40 guests seated and 50 guests for a cocktail function. There is a minimum spend of $4500 for exclusive use of this space and a 10% service charge applies in addition to the spend.
